NEW U.K. BORDER REQUIREMENTS FOR GENERAL AVIATION

Revised regulations for crew and passengers on all general aviation flights entering or leaving UK, were introduced in 2024.

The UK Customs, Immigration and Police requirements for international flights, also including flights to/from Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland, are covered by the document General Aviation Requirements (Accessible) new issue December 2024.

NEW IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VISITS TO THE E.U. FOR U.K. PASSPORT HOLDERS

From a date to be announced, all holders of passports from non Schengen countries (including UK) will be required to be photographed and fingerprints scanned on arrival in an EU Schengen country.

Later in 2026, the European Travel and Authorisation Scheme (ETIAS) will be introduced, requiring each individual traveller, not requiring a visa, to apply for an ETIAS permit to enter an EU Schengen country. An ETIAS permit will cost 7 Euros and be valid for three years.

If planning an overseas visit, check national travel restrictions, including those due to Brexit and Covid, en route, on arrival and on returning to UK.

Following Brexit, if planning to fly abroad from the UK in a light aircraft check revised pilot licencing and aircraft certification requirements. Also changes to Customs & Immigration clearance procedures and availability.
